The Creator Economy Is Booming. But At What Cost?
Why I Launched CreatorCare—Real Therapy for the Creative Gig Workers Powering Social Media

It was 2019. I had just come off an almost seven figure year running my digital media company and then everything shifted. Key execs left their roles, budgets got pulled, and before I knew it, I was back at square one with barely any income, personally or professionally.
I’ve been here before. You don’t exactly get used to it, but you do collect more tools to ride out the emotional and mental whiplash.
Between my own burnout and watching peers, many of them early YouTube stars and creators navigating this new economy, I realized we needed more than just awareness posts. We needed real support systems.
The creator economy is projected to hit nearly half a trillion dollars by 2027. But behind the viral hits and curated feeds is a growing mental health crisis—burnout, anxiety, and the pressure to always be “on.”
The truth is, creators are not just influencers. We’re creative gig workers. We’re small business owners. And we deserve care.
That’s why I launched CreatorCare, a dedicated mental health service for creators, offering sliding scale therapy starting at $60. No chatbots. No AI. Just real licensed therapists who understand the world we work in.
I co-founded CreatorCare with Creators 4 Mental Health and Revive Health Therapy, led by Amy Kelly, who literally did her dissertation on Facebook’s psychological impact. We’re starting in California and building from there.
In our first week, we were featured in WIRED, Inc., Tubefilter, The Information, and NYSE.
And we’re not alone. SAG-AFTRA, NAB, and the Creators Guild of America are all stepping up with their own initiatives around pay equity, small business support, and infrastructure for creators.
This is a movement, and it’s just the beginning. If you want to support or partner with us, reach out.
We’re building the support systems creative workers actually need—not just for today, but for the long run.
