AI is Becoming a bit TOO Human
Web3, AI and the creator economy in under 3 minutes per week!
Hey, Alpha fam! Writing to you from Gary Vaynerchuk’s annual conference, Veecon. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see some content I’ve been posting about the event. Now, let’s get into some stories I’m paying attention to.
The team behind Stable Diffusion just launched FLUX, a new AI image generator that’s shocking the world, including me.
FLUX can create hyper-realistic images of people who don’t exist. The results are mind-blowing—almost indistinguishable from real-life photos.
If no one told you, would you guess these people aren’t real? It’s wild.
On a similar note, OpenAI’s latest safety report raises alarms about its new voice mode, which can laugh, breathe, and gauge emotions, making interactions feel surprisingly lifelike.
While this could help lonely individuals feel connected, the risk of users becoming emotionally reliant on AI is real. During testing, people were already forming emotional bonds, even treating the AI like a human.
This brings up serious questions about the impact of making AI so human-like. As tech companies race to release these tools, we must consider the ethical implications and potential consequences of blurring the line between technology and reality.
My Hot Take 🔥: This development is inevitable. The upside is the potential benefits for creatives and those seeking human-like support. However, there will always be bad actors exploiting our tendency to be deceived. It's crucial for companies and social platforms to implement tech that helps users distinguish between what is real and what is not. I also believe we will enhance our own skills in this area, and future generations will start educating themselves on how to filter the media they consume.
